Situated adjacent to Cape Town's vibrant V&A Waterfront, The Commodore is a nautical themed hotel offering views of the harbour and Table Mountain, and is 20 minutes by boat from Robben Island. Cape Town Airport is 22 kilometres from the hotel. Hotel Features. Tall glass doors lead to a spacious lobby with wood flooring and a centrepiece bouquet of fresh flowers. The adjacent lounge area features nautical themed decor, a fireplace and high ceilings with wooden beams. Situated next to the outdoor swimming pool is a fully equipped gym with sauna, steam room, and showers. A terracotta courtyard with umbrellas, wrought iron furniture and a fish pond connects the pool area to the hotel. Open 24 hours a day, the guest relations desk located in the lobby offers tourist advice and can arrange a variety of services including Winelands tours and adventurous excursions with Harley Davidsons and helicopters. Opening onto a terracotta terrace, the Clipper Restaurant serves a buffet breakfast, whilst the lunch and dinner menu includes local and international meat, game and fish dishes. Located on the first floor, the Skin Wellness Spa provides a range of rejuvenating therapies in a serene setting of minimalist decor and aromatherapy candles. Treatments include massage, hydration facials and Skin's signature Cinnamon and Ginger Body wrap. Guestrooms. The Commodore features 233 air conditioned guestrooms spread over six floors. All are furnished in dark wood with suede cushions and have bright nautical paintings on the walls. Views are of Table Mountain, the city, or the swimming pool. Amenities include minibars, tea and coffee making facilities, desks, safes, satellite TV, hair dryers, and Internet connections (surcharge). Tiled bathrooms feature shower/tub combinations, make up mirrors and toiletries. Expert Tip. The Commodore's sister hotel next door is home to a traditional Cape Malay restaurant. Housed in what used to be The Cape Colony convict station the restored Quarterdeck restaurant serves a wide selection of local dishes.
