Description:	The Rum Point Inn perches on a sweeping point of the Placencia peninsula in Belize. Plancencia is a sliver of sub tropic forest and marsh extending 18 miles along mainland Belize. The slender landmass cups a handful of the Caribbean Sea against the mainland, forming the Plancencia Lagoon. The sparsely populated peninsula makes an excellent secluded ecological retreat for touring families and couples. The bustle of Belize City and Belize City Municipal Airport are but an afterthought of arrival, over 100 miles away. The inn boasts its own licensed tour company, Rum Point Tours, escorting guests on tours of Mayan ruins, ecological landscape and diving adventures throughout Belize. On mainland expeditions, guests rise early to boat across the steamy lagoon waters to the wharf at Mango Creek. Scuba diving is a mainstay at Rum Point. The Pro 42 foot jet boat AURIGA II skims across the Caribbean to live coral reefs marked by the global positioning system. The dive shop offers certification opportunities for new divers. Complimentary breakfasts are served December through May, and the inn's dining room offers views of the sea through handcrafted shutters. Many of the guestrooms at the Rum Point Inn are spacious beachside cabanas beneath concrete sculpted domes. Other guestrooms at Rum Point are located in the Garden Suites just a few steps from the beach. Guestrooms are decorated in Guatemalan style with locally designed and constructed hardwood furniture. The Rum Point Inn is an enviable property offering ecological adventures with a superb location on the Plancencia peninsula.
