Expert Tip. The giant Gothic Barcelona Cathedral, in the Gothic Quarter, is five blocks from the hotel. Around the Cathedral there are examples of Gothic architecture and Roman walls. The cathedral boasts a unique cloister with beautiful flowers, trees, fountains, and the 13 white geese, said to represent the purity of one of the earliest martyrs. In front of the Cathedral is a small square with street performers, cafes and interesting shops. The cathedral roof tour opens at 10 a.m. and much of the Quarter, and most of Barcelona, can be viewed from the cathedral roof.
