Location. On the coast of Honolulu's Waikiki Beach, The Outrigger Reef on the Beach hotel is adjacent to the Fort DeRussy Park and U.S. Army Museum, which was designed in 1915 to protect Pearl Harbor. The hotel is within one mile of the historical Bishop Museum and the rare sea life displays at the Lucoral Museum. Boutique shopping at the Ala Moana Shopping Center is one half mile away.
Hotel Features. Overlooking Waikiki Beach, The Ocean House Restaurant serves Pacific Rim cuisine, such as Mahi Mahi stuffed with crab meat. The Shorebird Restaurant & Beach Bar, also located on the oceanfront, features fresh seafood and hand carved steaks. A Jamba Juice cafù and a Starbucks are located on the first of the dual lobby levels, boasting numerous specialty shops. Complimentary recreation includes a fitness center with cardiovascular equipment and a seasonal outdoor pool with spa tub, where instructors offer complimentary introductory lessons in scuba diving. Aloha Activities, such as learning the hula and speaking native languages, are taught complimentary by a cultural specialist in the lobby. The hotel's Catamaran provides recreational activities such as snorkeling, sailing and sunset cruises. The 5,000 square foot Serenity Spa Hawaii offers salon and spa services with ocean views, such as a couple's Lomi Lomi massage and therapeutic pedicures. A gift shop, laden with signature tropical oils and skin care products, is on site. This hotel also includes a 24 hour business center with print and fax services and 2,500 square feet of event space.
Guestrooms. Located in three 18 floor towers, guestrooms at The Outrigger Reef on the Beach are arranged with island dùcor overlooking ocean and city views from private balconies. Guestroom amenities include cable television, video game consoles and high speed Internet access. Refrigerators and coffeemakers are also included.
Expert Tip. I watched couples renew their wedding vows on the white sands of Waikiki Beach at the hotels' complimentary ceremony held every Tuesday and Friday at 8 a.m.
